Refashion means to 'remake or alter.' It's another great "R" word and fits right in with the intent and purpose behind recycling. Refashioning gives another life to an item already headed to the thrift shop bag.
This new purse commemorates my staying 'quit.' I gained some weight after I quit smoking 18 months ago (today!) but I feel pretty good. Making this purse out of a skirt that no longer fits just reinforces for me that I'm getting over the hump of feeling bad about myself for gaining some weight. This skirt is not staying on my shelves for another season, in hopes that I get back to my pre-quit weight and size. Maybe refashioning applies to more than just a skirt being made into a hand bag?
