New favorite way to recycle junk mail

Having just returned from another road trip adventure, I was amazed to see how much junk mail I had waiting for me.  Time to call up some catalog companies and ask to be removed from their mailing lists.  Again.  Then there's all the standard junk mail.  Insurance solicitations, requests to apply for more credits cards.  You get the picture.

Let's repurpose some of these envelopes.  This is a particularly useful and functional recycling project for anyone who is a list maker.  That would be me.

Keep only the envelopes that are blank or partially printed on the back side. This will be the side you write on. Using a sharp letter opener, cleanly slit open your junk mail.

Gently tap your envelopes on a hard surface to bring all the end edges in alignment.  I use about 10-15 envelopes per 'pad.'

Use 'bull dog clips' to tightly pinch and hold all the envelopes together.  Although I've not tried this any other way, I'm thinking rubber bands could give you the same results.  Anything that will hold your envelopes tightly together should do the trick.

Next up, grab your glue.  I love this sticky stuff because it's thick and isn't runny.  It stays where you dab it.

Start squeezing out a line of glue, and keep dabbing it and working it in until you have all of the edge covered in a nice layer of the sticky stuff.
Like so.

Lay your new pad on a table or shelf with the glued end hanging free and unobstructed.  Let it dry.  I leave mine overnight.

You will be amazed at how simple your envelopes will rip from your newly made note pad.

Just in time for another trip.  Places to go, people to see, things to do, lists to fill!
