I love it when a simple idea makes a positive change in my life. To the person who originally thought of this, I raise my water glass to you, dear. Sweeeeet!
The photos pretty much tell the story. We're removing the lid of a cardboard salt container and reusing it in a Ball or Kerr canning jar ring. Now we have a 'pouring spout' for whatever our heart desires to use it for. This latest one is going to be for cocoa powder. Some of the others already on my shelf are for sunflower seeds, veggie broth powder and ground flax seed.
The time I have saved in opening and closing zip-lock baggies can now be used in other fun ways. Like, posting more 'how to' tutorials.

Gather your supplies. |
Draw your pencil line following the outside of the metal ring. |
Make initial puncture with the tip of a sharp knife and then carefully cut
the remaining circle with scissors. |
After the initial cut, go back and carefully trim just enough
so you can fit the cardboard circle into the ring snugly. |
Fill your jar with 'goodness' and begin pouring! |
If I still snacked on M&M's and jelly beans, well, this would be a no-brainer. |
