This project was originally posted over on my personal blog page. I was so pleased with how it turned out. After talking briefly on CONSERVATION to the Misses Club, we made these altered books using recycled materials. The High School girls seemed to have a great time making them and I enjoyed it as much as they appeared to.
When Jan Lisenby and I went to Mabson (Educational Classroom in the Forest) to talk about Recycling this last spring, a 5th grade science teacher at G.W. Long Elementary asked if I would come speak to her students; she said they have been talking about composting and have a composting experiment going on in their classroom. I showed the teacher this altered book and she said she knew her class would love making them. So, this fall, Jan and I will head out to Skipperville and show these students how to make these fun books using the back sides of paper that is still perfectly usable and how to create their own creative covers using a variety of recycled materials.
