Repurposing household recyclables

When I started eating a lot more fruits and vegetables, I noticed a huge increase in my container waste. Many of these containers are recyclable but I prefer 'reducing and reusing' whenever possible. Whoever said "Necessity is the Mother of Invention" got it right.  (Now I'm going to have to stop everything here and go seek out that little tidbit of information.  Ahh!  It's author is anonymous!)

I started using everyday ordinary cardboard boxes for "present wrapping" a number of years ago. Letting the boxes be their own 'art and unique' presentation seemed enough.  A little tissue paper, a wire handle and you've got yourself a dandy repurposed gift box.

Strawberries, raspberries, grapes and many other healthy foods often come prepackaged in a plastic basket. Why not apply the same fun application to these containers?  Let the magic begin.

These containers are the perfect size for many smaller gifts.  This one was just right for a silver bracelet.

Best of all, the containers have those 'locking nubs' to hold it closed.

Add a label of your own making to cover up the old fruit label.  No need to remove the old one.  Just cover it up!
This container was a perfect depth for a large set of assorted A2 Note Cards.

 Reduce.  Reuse.  Recycle.
